Canyon Estates: 2nd Trip
Today we went to Canyon Estates with the intention to hike the south crest trail to the top. Along the way, we met the folks in the pic below, the photographer wanted us to pose but we weren't in the mood.
We walked passed this sign aways up the hill. It says something about the mountain club.
Shortly thereafter I (Sedona) stubbed my toe and it started to bleed so we took a afternoon siesta.
We were mostly uncooperative with the photographer but he did manage to catch this photo on our way back down. We didn't make it to the top but maybe next time.

Hopefully it's just a surface wound?
Sorry you didn't make it to the top, but it sure does give you a good reason to go back.
Have a great week.

On here back right foot, the outside toe nail is split/broken and bleeding. She is limping pretty heavily. I washed it off, then I kept her in the crate all night and all day. I also prevented her from engaging in her usual frolicking with Homer. When I got home from work tonight, she wasn't limping at first when I let her out of the crate but I noticed a few minutes later that she was trying to lick at it. If it doesn't start getting better by weekend I guess I will take her to the vet. I am sure that its not a broken bone but the nail. I don't really know that there is much that anyone can do except for wait for it to grow back. What do you think?

Some toenails will heal nicely without any help. It really is dependent on how it is broken, split, etc.
What we usually do with broken toenails, that are severe, is we cut them all the way back and then cauterize the quick.
Sometimes they have to wear a bandage on their foot for a week or so. It just depends.
If the nail is split close to the end then you don't have to cut as much off (no bandage), but if it is split all the way back then you would need to cut it all the way off.
We usually sedate the dogs to do this as it is very painful. Sometimes it can be done with a local block.
Pain meds and antibiotics are usually sent home.
Hope this helps.
