WAKE-UP and vote to restore some sanity to our government before its too late!

"To see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle" -- George Orwell

I really don't consider myself to be a Republican or Democrat and probably can best be characterized as a swing voter. Some of the things that I liked about the Republicans but sadly they have abandoned are:
  • lower taxes & smaller government
  • fiscal restraint
I really don't consider Bush's tax relief as lower taxes for the simple reason that he has presided over the largest increase of the federal deficit in history. His arguments are simply lies and clever use of semantics. I don't care whats causing the rise in the deficit. The fact is its huge and someone is going to pay the piper and guess who that is? Its us and future generations. Here's an informative graphic:
The Republicans don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to taxes, fiscal restraint and the deficit. On the one hand they claim that they are making government smaller by reducing taxes. However they do not control spending whatsoever and since Bush II they have controlled both the executive and legislative branches which leaves them with absolutely NO EXCUSES.

Moral Grounds
The deception and fear that is currently being perpetrated on the public by the Bush admin along with collaboration by the media to justify its so-called war on terror is immoral. This coming from Bush a so-called "evangelical christian." I just wonder how long its going to take before the so-called "evangelical christians" realize that they have been completely and totally taken for a ride -- and not just on moral grounds either.

Lets put the events of 9-11 in perspective by looking at actual numbers of deaths by guns alone in the US:

FACT:
In 2003 (the most recent year for which data is available), there were 30,136 gun deaths in the U.S:

  • 16,907 suicides (56% of all U.S gun deaths),
  • 11,920 homicides (40% of all U.S gun deaths),
  • 730 unintentional shootings (2% of all U.S gun deaths),
  • 347 from legal intervention and 232 from undetermined intent (2% of all U.S gun deaths combined).
-Numbers obtained from CDC National Center for Health Statistics mortality report online, 2006.
It was also very sad that so many died in the World Trade towers and the hijacked aircraft on 9-11. I don't know the exact number and probably no one does but its in the neighborhood of 3000 individuals who lost there lives on that day. However, we are losing in excess of 80 people everyday in the US by gun violence alone and over a period of 1 year we lose 10 times as many people by guns as we did on 9-11.

I really didn't have a problem with invading Afghanistan because it seemed apparent(?-who can you trust?) that the terrrorist who attacked us on 9-11 where stationed there. But invading Iraq was just plain wrong and the linking of it with the so-called war on terror is just plain wrong and evil. Obviously we are fighting the war on terror in the wrong place! We should be fighting it right here at home!

There are so many reasons why the Bush admin and the Republican congress need to be thrown out but more on that later.

Please vote and help restore some sanity to our government before its too late!
